Poncho Man's Night Of Champions Preview

I kept thinking about doing this all day. I really don't have much to say about a lot of these matches. I realize that is okay, and it's not a bad thing. I've been consistently pleased with the product lately. Don't want to start nitpicking and fantasy booking, I just want to be positive.

1. RD Evans was on Smackdown. This is one of the single best things ever.

2. Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler for the US Title
I honestly have no inkling of what this feud is. Maybe I wasn't paying attention. Here is my guess. Dolph made some disparaging comments about Triple H...because he's a showoff and Triple H is kinda showing off his new power. So Triple H sent his meany henchman after him. Am I right!?! This will probably be okay.

3. The Prime Time Players vs The Usos vs The Real Americans vs. Tons Of Funk vs 3MB
Wow. I just love that I live in a day and age where coming out makes you get a big push. Millions Of Dollars just isn't as entertaining as it was when it was EVIL. Thank god for Antonio Cesaro.

3. AJ Lee vs. Natalya vs. Brie Bella vs. Naomi
I love me some Total Divas. I also love me some awesome AJ Lee promos. Still confused why The Marshall doesn't like Natalya. First storyline involving the Divas Title worth watching maybe ever (think about it....it's totally meta and stuff) and the first storyline since Mickie James and Trish Stratus that wasn't dumb. Not so much caring about the wrestling itself though...Naomi stole Colt's move....

4. Alberto Del Rio vs RVD for the World Heavyweight Championship
Wow...I don't give a flying fuck. The match will probably be decent though.

5. CM Punk vs Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman
This is all sorts of great. This storyline doesn't insult my intelligence. They aren't even really involved in the bigger storyline. It's been a brutal violent build, and remember when we basically saw this and it was good. Yay for good stuff!

6. DBD vs Randy Orton for the WWE Championship
I'm just along for the ride baby.....

Short and sweet. I have a fancy phone now so feel free to bug me anytime about wrestling. I might have some more posts this week. Good night young boys.

  1. I'm feeling the way you are about this ppv. Basically liking the tv shows, open to whatever happens and looking forward to a few good wrestling matches.

    1. Yeah. He really belongs in WWE too (probably as a manager). Just so fun to watch and root for.

    2. I think you're right. It's whack how uninvested the machine is in Ziggler right now. A few months ago he was WCW Champion, but it seemed like after 2 crap promos, the rug got pulled out from under him, and the crowd got soft on him, too (including me). I can understand taking the gold off of him, but straight up jobbing to Wyatt Family and the Shield seems pretty low. On the flip side though, getting beat up is what he does best.

    3. Wow, 10 dudes tagging. This would really benefit from TNA's old hexagon ring. Didn't know this existed before reading your post. Does this mean that the Shield isn't defending their tag titles at Night of Champions, when every title is supposed to be defended?

The Other 3. I still haven't seen an episode of Total Divas, and I probably never will. I'm a fan of AJ for her talent as a character, and for being the diva with the best working understanding of ring psychology. I'm a fan of Naomi for her athletic ability, unmatched in the WWE ladies' locker room. I'm a fan of Brie Bella, who may have the second best psychology of the Divas (Alicia Fox would be third). I don't have anything to say about Natalya I haven't said before.

    4. I hope RR turns on RVD and helps ADR to retain, but only because every other possible finish would be boring.

    5. YES "all sorts of great" I agree. Seems totally old school to have a main eventer like Punk taking on newbie Axel for a grudge. The only thing I don't like is that it's not for the IC title. Isn't that what Night of Champions is all about? I'm really looking forward to seeing what Heyman pulls out of his sleeve to secure his own safety here. Also looking forward to Punk "making" Axel like he did in Portland. (Not by losing, necessarily, just by giving him a good fight.)

    6. "Along for the ride", word up! It's been pretty good so far, and feels like it's only just getting started.

While writing this, I've been watching ECW on the side. I'm up to episode 27.

ROH TV has been awesome lately. Episodes have been featuring tournament matches for the World Championship, and some of them have been pretty heated. My personal favorite so far was Tommaso Ciampa vs. Silas Young, being a mark for both those guys, but all the matches have been really good, and worth watching.
